My name is Lauren Yoo and I'm a graduate from the University of California, Irvine. I majored in Computer Science with a specialization in Information Retrieval. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA 🌴.

Previously, I worked at Reddit, BlackRock(Aladdin), HERE.io, JP Morgan Chase, and at USC Viterbi.

Right after graduating from UC Irvine, I moved to NYC for 4 years(2022-2026). Though NYC was a period of growth for me, the west coast is the best coastthe lack of driving, my rent, and the snow drove me nuts and I decided to return back to LA. I'm extremely happy being back in a city thats lets me be the best version of myself.

Now that I'm back in LA, I'm working as a founding software engineer for Dialogue AI. As a SWE, I want to build new features that people actually use while utilizing good system design and engineering practices. I'm actively interested in the technology behind our everyday services like credit cards, large scale social media, airtags, and GPS systems. I'm inherently a curious person which is why I find satisfaction in learning how things work and collecting various fun facts.

I'm a huge fan of Neo kim's substack where he does a deep dive into the system design of everyday things. Definitely solved alot of my curiosities. Also read both v1 and v2 of Alex Xu's System Design Interview book.

Some of my interests include snowboarding, playing golf and tennis, film/moviesim a sucker for A24 films 🎬, fashion, drinking milkteamolly tea and torotea are my favs, trying the best ice cream in the city626 hospitality is the best in LA, climbing the leaderboard on beliI'm ranked top 1000 on beli😎, sketching landscapes, visiting new cafes, and understanding random world/industry markets.

on an unprofessional note: my goal as a software engineer is to actively develop features that reach the masses, have an iced americano in hand, and drive my dream cari will obtain a porsche someday in los angeles, ca. this last part was for manifestation :)
